Advocacy Alert: Supporting Falls Prevention and Healthy Aging

An older man walks between parallel bars in a bright rehab facility, assisted by a smiling female therapist. Sunlight shines through large windows.

Falls are one of the leading threats to the health, safety, and independence of older adults. Each year, millions of older Americans experience falls that can result in serious injuries, hospitalizations, and a loss of confidence in daily activities.

The National Association of Rehabilitation Providers & Agencies (NARA) is encouraging support for the Stopping Addiction and Falls for the Elderly (SAFE) Act (H.R. 1171 and S. 2612). This legislation would expand opportunities for physical and occupational therapists to participate in Medicare wellness visits and help increase access to falls screening and prevention services for older adults.

Early identification of fall risk can play an important role in helping older adults maintain their mobility, safety, and independence. Expanding access to evidence-based prevention services can help connect individuals with the resources and interventions they need before a serious injury occurs.

At Synergy Care, we believe in supporting efforts that promote healthy aging, enhance quality of life, and help older adults remain active and independent for as long as possible.

Please consider contacting your U.S. Representatives and Senators and encouraging them to support the SAFE Act through NARA’s advocacy efforts. Every voice can help raise awareness about the importance of falls prevention and proactive care for older adults.

Together, we can help create safer communities and improve access to services that support the well-being of older adults.
